Travis McDonald Joins IMALPAL Group As VP Of Business Development For North America

IMALPAL Group has named Travis McDonald Vice President of Business Development for North America, where he will focus on expanding the company’s presence and bringing its European-developed wood processing and residual utilization technologies

 

“Everybody knows the issue with all the new sawmills and the volume coming out in the U.S. South,” McDonald says. “If you’ve got a volume of lumber, you’ve got a volume of residuals. What’s great for lumber isn’t necessarily great for residuals, and now we have to find ways to take care of all these separate volumes.”

 

IMALPAL Group has an established presence in Europe and other countries where many of its machines are used to address fiber utilization and processing challenges.

 

“In the U.S., we’re dealing with clean wood—you just need something productive to do with it rather than giving it away or disposing of it,” McDonald says. “With IMALPAL’s machinery, we can convert those residuals into high-value products. Some of the technology being used for panels, OSB and other products in Europe isn’t even being used here in the U.S. yet. It’s advanced machinery and technology, and it applies here. It’s time to do it.”

 

As Vice President of Business Development for North America, McDonald will work with sawmills and other wood products manufacturers to identify opportunities for better wood residual utilization while expanding IMALPAL Group’s equipment and technology presence across the North American forest products industry.

 

McDonald brings nearly 30 years of sawmill production operations and sawmill machinery development and implementation.
