Barge Forest Products Announces $8.3 Million Investment In Mississippi

Barge Forest Products has announced an expansion of its sawmill operations in Macon, Miss., supported by an investment of more than $8.3 million.

Barge Forest Products specializes in long length southern yellow pine lumber. The company is constructing a new facility to house a new production line that will feature optimized edging and twin horizontal resaw capabilities. The upgrades are designed to improve efficiency and significantly increase the sawmill’s annual production capacity.

“We are excited to invest in the future of our operation and community. With support from the Mississippi Development Authority and the Noxubee County Board of Supervisors, this project will strengthen our competitiveness, improve efficiency and significantly increase log recovery, making better use of our available timber resources while supporting economic growth in the area for years to come,” says Jason Ebert, Executive Vice President of Operations, Barge Forest Products Co.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through a loan guarantee program and the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program. Noxubee County is assisting with the project, as well.

The company expects to complete the expansion October 2027.
